National Park Service Special Resource Study

Authorized by bi-partisan legislation approved by Congress and signed into law by President Obama, the National Park Service is conducting a special resource study to determine New Philadelphia’s qualifications for inclusion as a unit of the National Park System.  A site visit and community meeting was held on May 11, 2016 and results of the study were expected in the fall of 2016.  However, the Jacksonville Journal Courier reported the change in administration and collection of further information has extended the timeline of the study’s completion to 2018.
