New Philadelphia National Historic Site Awarded $25,000 Grant to Launch “Our Past, Our Voices” Initiative
The New Philadelphia Association (NPA) is pleased to announce that New Philadelphia National Historic Site has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Jefferson National Parks Association’s BlueSky Opportunity Fund. This funding will support the launch of “Our Past, Our Voices,” an innovative initiative designed to bring the rich history of New Philadelphia to life through community engagement and storytelling.
“Our Past, Our Voices” will focus on amplifying the voices and experiences connected to New Philadelphia, the historic town founded by Free Frank McWorter. The initiative will include community storytelling programs, enhanced interpretive experiences, and paid internship opportunities for students interested in public history and cultural preservation.
The National Park Service aims to preserve and share the legacy of New Philadelphia while creating meaningful opportunities for community members and emerging historians to engage with its history.
